Lauren received a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO, and an MFA in Ceramics at the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR. She went on to a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT before moving to San Francisco, CA.

Lauren has worked in a variety of capacities in the ceramic and art fields over the past 25 years. She has taught and worked in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the Puget Sound area. Most significantly, she has been a teacher of art and ceramics to a wide variety of students at all ages, skill levels, and settings.

Lauren’s strong interest in ceramics also lead her to wheel thrown porcelain, a form that she still enthusiastically practices today. She had her own wholesale pottery business for a number of years, participating in the Rosen and American Craft Council shows.

Her work has appeared in a number of well known galleries around the country including: the Holter Art Museum in Helena, Montana, Aspen Art Museum, Aspen, CO, and the Northwest Craft Center, Seattle, WA. A teapot was accepted in 2005 to the NCECA International Teapot exhibit in Xixang, China. She has been accepted to a variety of juried shows such as New Hampshire Institute of Art Ceramic Biennial 2006, Manchester, NH, Feats of Clay 2003, Lincoln, CA, Crafts USA 2002, New Cannan CT, and Cups, The Intimate Object, Ft.Wayne, IN. Lauren's work has also been featured in 500 Pitchers, and 500 Teapots, both published by Lark Books. In addition, Lauren participated in many wholesale shows with the Rosen Group and American Craft Council from 1989 to 1999.

Currently Lauren is the Director of the Carbondale Clay Center and Instructor of both the Adult and Children’s ceramics classes.
